Professional body FINSIA is seeking volunteers to help with its submission to Treasury consultation regarding the objective to superannuation

Earlier this year, Treasury released a consultation into creating a defined objective for super and sought submissions from the industry on how a specific objective could improve accountability and transparency.

Its proposed objective put forward was: “The objective of superannuation is to preserve savings, to deliver income for a dignified retirement, alongside government support, in an equitable and sustainable way”.

FINSIA head of education, Kylie Blundell, said: “Practitioner input from across our membership has always been a cornerstone of FINSIA advocacy so we can make our collective views known to Treasury.

“It is an important part of FINSIA’s role to complement the work of policymakers and advocate on behalf of our members.

“We are looking to include additional volunteers from our member base who we know will bring a diverse range of experiences and expertise from the financial services sector to help formulate FINSIA’s submission.”

The closing date for submissions back to Treasury was 31 March, 2023.
