An apartment in AMP Capital's Select Property Portfolio No. 3 has sold for a record amount for a single apartment in Australia, raking in $17 million from a private buyer.

AMP Capital and Galileo Group announced the sale of the Sulman Penthouse in The Residence Hyde Park, a luxury residential high rise which was completed late in 2012.

"We are very pleased with the sale of the Sulman Penthouse, which is the eleventh high-end apartment sold within the development this year alone," AMP Capital Select Property Portfolio fund manager, Warwick Petschack, said.

The sale was brokered by the divisional director of Savills Residential Projects, Nigel Napoli.
