State Street Global Markets has announced the launch of a new online media research centre that provides access to key economic indicators, including inflation indices for the US and Argentina and global investor confidence.

The media resource will provide access to daily State Street PriceStats Inflation Indices for the United States and Argentina, and State Street's monthly Investor Confidence Index for North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe.

As the inaugural country-specific inflation indicator, the Argentina Index replaced the Argentine government's official Consumer Price Index (CPI) in The Economist in February, while the US Inflation Index has proven to anticipate short-term trends in inflation.

"Measuring inflation is increasingly important to investors because it impacts on their portfolios across asset classes," senior managing director and head of State Street Global Markets' research partnership Jessica Donohue said.

"There has been an overwhelming amount of interest in the State Street PriceStats Inflation Indices for the US, as PriceStats' research has proven that online prices can be successfully used to measure trends."

Academic partners from State Street Associates, the company's research partnership, will provide regular insights alongside content and commentary from State Street Global Markets' research strategists.

"The launch of State Street's new media research centre will provide access to a selection of our proprietary indicators and indices, offering keen insights into economic trends and measures of market sentiment," Donohue said.

State Street Global Markets is the research and trading arm of State Street Corporation.
