MLC Life Insurance has appointed Andrea Forbes as executive lead – relationship management, group insurance to help drive retention and engagement with existing and prospective clients.
In an announcement, MLC said Forbes would report to chief of group and retail partners, Sean McCormack.
Commenting on the appointment, McCormack said: “Andrea is a highly respected leader in financial services and government sectors. Her experience will be an invaluable addition to the group insurance team as we continue to evolve to meet the needs of members, superfunds and trustees”.
Forbes was most recently former director of commercial policy and risk at NSW Treasury where her team delivered new policies on board governance and executive remuneration for the states commercial businesses.
Prior to this, Forbes was Sunsuper’s executive general manager for strategy, education, and external relations.
The insurance company has joined this year’s awards as a principal partner.
The $135 billion fund has transitioned away from TAL Life Insurance following an “extensive tender process”.
The $80 billion fund is facing legal action over allegedly signing up new members to income protection insurance by default without active member consent.
In a Senate submission, the Financial Services Council has once again called for further clarification that the government will assess the consumer outcomes of group insurance against the enshrined objective of superannuation.
