BNP Paribas expands global fixed income team

BNP Paribas has appointed Sameer Sopori as head of high yield capital markets, Asia-Pacific to grow the regional presence of its high yield franchise.

Sopori has joined BNP Paribas from Standard Chartered where he headed up the global high yield product group. Previously he worked at Credit Suisse, UBS and Morgan Stanley in London and Hong Kong.

He has over two decades experience working in corporate finance, leverage finance and high yield transactions across Asia and Europe. Sopori has raised over US$7 billion for Asian corporates via more than 20 high yield transactions.

Sopori will be based in Singapore and report to Frank Kwong, head of syndicate Asia and Chanant Charnchainarong, head of fixed income, South East Asia.
