Chi-X appoints head of institutional sales

Chi-X Australia has appointed Murrough O’Brien to the role of director of institutional sales.

He joins from global institutional trading network Liquidnet and has more than 16 years’ experience in financial services, with specialist knowledge of algorithmic and electronic trading, market structure and regulation.

O’Brien has also held a number of senior positions, which included serving as head of Australia and New Zealand at TradingScreen, an electronic trading solution provider, and as head of electronic trading, Australia and New Zealand, at Citigroup.

Chi-X Australia, which was launched in 2011, is a fully regulated stock exchange where investors can trade over 2,200 Australian listed companies, exchange-traded funds, investment trusts and warrants.
