Link Group intends to appoint its current director, Michael Carapiet, as independent chairman of the board, and three industry leaders as non-executive directors of the board, the firm announced.

Link said the intended appointments of Carapiet along with Glen Boreham, Sally Pitkin, and Fiona Trafford-Walker will be effective 23 September.

Managing director, John McMurtrie, said the four have many years of executive leadership experience across key sectors relevant to Link's business.

"It is a privilege to have such a wealth of expertise and insight in superannuation, wealth management, and technological innovation to draw upon as we continue to grow," McMurtrie said.

Commenting on his appointment, Carapiet said: "I am honoured to have been asked to chair Link Group through the next phase of its growth as a leader in technology-enabled financial and wealth data management."

Carapiet joined the Link Group board in 2015 and currently chairs the boards of Insurance & Care NSW, Smartgroup Corporation, and Adexum Capital.
