The UBS Global Asset Management team has expanded wholesale capabilities with two new appointments.

Seventeen-year veteran James Tomkins will become national sales manager for clients in Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania, while Alistair Dunne, previously of BT Investment Management (BTIM), will fill out the same role for Victoria and South Australia.

Tomkins has worked in sales roles at BTIM, Westpac Private Bank and ABN Amro, while Dunne has plied his trade at Challenger and worked six years as BTIM's national sales manager.

Ben Heap, head of UBS Global Asset Management for Australia and New Zealand, said recent growth had driven the appointments, which would allow UBS to distribute core equities, fixed income and multi-asset funds nationally.

The appointments follow the launch of two new UBS funds that feed into the growing demand from investors and government legislation for passive superannuation solutions.

Based in Melbourne, the pair will report to head of wholesale sales for UBS in Australia and New Zealand, Bryce Doherty.
