Zurich Life and Investments has appointed TAL group life executive general manager, Darren Wickham, as head of group insurance, joining in March 2021.

Wickham had 30 years’ experience as an actuary and specialist in superannuation and retirement income and benefits, including as a partner in Mercer’s retirement, risk and finance practice, and was a former Actuary of the Year.

Justin Delaney, Zurich Life and Investments chief executive, said: “We are excited to have Darren join our executive team and to lead the group insurance business for Zurich in Australia. Darren brings deep market and technical experience to complement the global capability of Zurich’s international corporate life and pensions business.

“Group insurance is a key growth platform for Zurich Australia; one where we have significant opportunity and capability since our acquisition of OnePath Life. Darren’s appointment is symbolic of our commitment to existing superannuation partners and our ambition for further growth.”
