Superannuation software provider, BGL Corporate Solutions has received an endorsement of its cloud-based Simple Fund 360 offering announcing this week that independent self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) administrator, MORE Super, had adopted the system.
BGL said MORE Super had committed to moving administration of its 5,000 SMSFs from Simple Fund Desktop to Simple Fund 360.
The MORE Super move prompted BGL managing director, Ron Lesh to claim that Simple Fund 360 was now the most widely-used cloud-based administration solution with over 1,400 businesses representing 80,000 SMSFs now using the software.
MORE Super managing director, Michael Pease noted that the Simple Fund 360 solution was accountancy focused.
"Simple Fund 360 was born from an accounting package not a portfolio package" he said.
"360 is a tool developed to assist accountants, not replace them; we have every confidence that conversion will immediately bolster our client engagement whilst mitigating our long-term engagement expense."
The impact of identity theft and its threat to superannuation savings were highlighted in a case that went before the Federal Court at the end of 2023.
A recent NSW Supreme Court decision is an important reminder that while super funds may be subject to restrictive superannuation and tax laws, in essence they are still a trust and subject to equitable and common law claims, says a legal expert.
New research from the University of Adelaide has found SMSFs outperformed APRA funds by more than 4 per cent in 2021–22.
The SMSF Association has made a number of policy recommendations for the superannuation sector in its pre-budget submission to the government.
